One of the worlds longest bike races, the oldest race in Australia and the second longest running one day classic in the world in the is the Melbourne to Warrnambool Classic. The first race was held in 1895 with only 24 starters and 7 finishers straight down what is now known as the Princes Highway. Of the 90 races held over the history of the race on 32 occasions the race was run in the reverse direction.
The HLTT will complete the course in reverse directions via the Great Ocean Road, one of Australia’s iconic drives and one of the world’s best bike rides.
The tour will facilitate ride options for 2 groups, a stronger or elite group intent on riding the course at high average speeds and covering the full compliment of kilometers with their race faces on
and a second enthusiast group will ride shortened daily courses on selected sections of the road that will challenge all involved but which should encourage opportunities for additional recruitment. The rides will be designed to accommodate less accomplished riders keen on riding a slower pace but achieving milestone rides for the HLTT cause.
